Yes I downloaded the manual, there are two connectors, pos and neg that allow you to wire directly to transformer. I did it conventionally.

How much voltage is the accessory getting? What type of transformer are you using?

Sometimes the accessory side of a transformer is programmed to a lower voltage. This accessory is rated 12-18v.
