Bmoran, thanks for the parts and numbers. The diagrams of the 249 and 250 locos in Greenberg's Manual do not show the precise parts for the 249E so the ones you noted should work.

I did a search on e bay and found the front truck assembly and drive rod assembly for the 249E. Ordered and will arrive in a week.
