Reply to "Lionel Exclusive Run Central of Georgia F3AA at Legacy Station"

SP ran FP7s that were 4' longer than the standard F unit to accommodate a larger water tank for the boiler equipment.  You are correct that the Daylight Scheme did not end up on these.  They had the equally attractive Black Widow scheme.  (IMO).  They served long enough so that several got the Amtrak Bloody Nose Scheme.

However, oddly enough, subsidiary Cotton Belt did paint some FP7s in the Daylight Scheme.  Go figure?

3rd Rail ran FP7s back probably 6 years now?  The only F unit PRR every painted in Tuscan and only two sets at that.

As for phases on the F3, modelers have simplified it down to 4 with a Phase II early and a Phase II late (for 5 total versions). The reality is that the spec changed so many times for this transitional diesel that EMD never had any phases listed.

Most people ordering these special runs though probably aren't as interested in those details I would guess.  Lionel makes a decent F3 for the money.  Since I am biased in my affiliations, I won't comment further.
