The Maine Eastern FL9s came to them by way of Amtrak and retained Amtrak's numbers. I believe the second one was 485. There are several modifications made to the original as-built Phase II FL9s. The headlight is a Pyle headlight with two vertical lamps. Ditch lights were added to the anti-climber. The horn was replaced with a KL5a five chime horn and the most significant difference is the addition of an HEP generator set in lieu of the boiler. Finally a reverse red warning light was added above the center of the windshield.
Unfortunately these got sidelined when Maine Eastern acquired a pair of former Amtrak F40s and painted them in this same scheme. As I understand though Maine Eastern is not currently operating passenger trains. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I just put this prototype info out for those who are interested. This could be an attractive scheme on an F3 for people not concerned about the locomotive type.
