I personally was disappointed that the tracks don't fade out after the train passes so I am looking into adding a supercapacitor to the output of the switching power supply Lionel runs these lights with. I also want to add optional blue replacement lights for my Star Trek set.
Also I want to add that now that I bought the 40x50 lighted oval starter set, I can see that they have updated the design, from the preproduction piece that was at the show. now there is an insulated section in the middle of one of the common rails. On both ends they have a jumper bar bridging the two common rails back together but now only the middle 8 inches of the one common rails are insulated. A pretty smart design I would say.
