For one, if you shine a light down the stack there's one fat *** resistor in there.  The biggest one I've ever seen. It almost blocks the entire stack opening.

The fans run strong and don't make the sickening grinding whine of previous units. Lionel may have finally figured out how to build a smoke unit.

RickO, I think you hit the nail on the head.  In the H-10, its a straight shot to the resistor and then the wadding.  In other locos there is a funnel or channels to distribute the fluid like those in the Big Boy and Niagara and maybe that explains meager smoke.
