Lionel Hudson #2065 Runs Again!

I'm not big into post-war stuff (my interest is modern O scale), but my Uncle gave me his old train stuff last year that had been stored away for years.  Not sure when it last ran, but IIRC the date on the newspaper it was wrapped in was 1984.  Very little original packaging present, but the catalog included in the box (an old Hoover vacuum one, likely of similar vintage) was dated 1955.  The engine is a Hudson, Lionel Lines, #2065.  There's a similar one in the catalog numbered 2055, so maybe the 2065 was from a set?  There's also a LL burgundy caboose, silver 2-dome tank car, Lehigh Valley black hopper, and a yellow barrel unloading gondola.  Anyone who knows their post-war and knows if any of these are anything special please let me know.

Lionel Lines #2065 Runs Again!

A couple days ago I took out the engine, greased the gears & oiled every other moving part I could find.  A bit noisy; not sure how much is normal, but seemed to run ok.  Any particular tips for care & maintenance of an engine of this vintage would be appreciated.

Thank you, and Happy Thanksgiving!

Neal
