It is difficult to open as it doesn’t operate smoothly. On mine, I use my finger nail at the “arrow” to start then work back and forth. Has kind of a “catch” on it, I suppose to keep from opening on movement. Don’t touch the window! Some non-oily lube would be a good idea, but it isn’t open often.
