Lionel will never publicly admit a life time warranty.

what would it take to prove it to you?

I got mine in 2010 and 2011 and sent they both back in 2017 for service.

When Mike Reagan was with Lionel he started the policy because like was said above without the legacy system how do you run command trains.

Yeah I can see why they wouldn't, or more people would abuse it. It's good to see that they are extremely supportive of their products and users.

You said it had 1.5. That's an easy upgrade. If you want to go all the way back to 1.0 yes that's a return but again you said 1.5. easy upgrade.

As far as the warranty goes, as long as the system is not abused Lionel's policy is to repair it free of charge with a receipt. While it is unwritten, it is also well documented here.

True that! But if I buy it from Ebay, I won't have a receipt and the warranty will be void. Since it says in the warranty section that as soon as the product is sold or transferred to someone else, that the new owner will not be able to get warranty coverage.

I have bought engines off of Ebay in the past, but those aren't super difficult to fix yourself out of warranty. But with the Legacy Command base it will be a lot harder to fix it by yourself and you're not guaranteed to get the parts.
