One thing to ask though... I noticed in your video you are using test rollers. Are you sure you have enough pick up rollers on the locomotive and tender powered through the test rollers? I know you probably dont need them all powered but I would think maybe trying to power as many as possible to rule out that possibly being your issue. I would put it directly to a powered track just to rule that out. Maybe you already have so disregard if so.

Can confirm it is not the test rollers causing it. Ultimately to answer your question, I have tried all of the above. I have tried it on fast track, atlas track (directly on the track), changing from 54w DC and 72w DC bricks, changing different AC transformers, all to the same result and conclusion.

The rollers in the video here are 3D printed and plastic, but I learned the tender does not need to be on the track for power/sound.
