Regardless of what the color is supposed to be, it looks like a mistake when the cab color doesn't match the tender, IMO, even if that is prototypical.

Lionel had a nice dark oxide red that was used on both up until the 1st legacy k4 in 2011.

Then it disappeared , right along with the dark graphite smokebox color😐
