Lionel's Penn Central/Conrail Merger cars.....Update 2/28/16

In the late 90s when word of the Conrail sale and break up surfaced, lionel put together this merger set with 2 overstamped box cars....and followed it with 3 sets of 2 overstamped cars over then next few years.

I was really into Conrail at the time......still love Conrail blue....and purchased the set and all the cars as they became available.

I had the opportunity to run the set yesterday at the our modular set up......the overstep cars are very colorful.

The SD-18 that came with the set has a PullMor and magna-traction....it's pretty anemic and has that a loud growl.....I usually add a contemporary MTH RailKing SD-60 with Protosounds to pull it.

Anyone else a fan of the cars?
