Hello Superwarp1,
You wrote: "Lobster claw couplers are an absolute JOKE. Total junk, flimsy, won't couple with other cars, not at the right height. " I agree. I noticed the coupler discrepancy when my Central Vermont arrived a few days ago.
Unfortunately, when I pushed the CV to couple with a first run milk car, I broke the knuckle off on the older car. Both cars had their knuckles open. And then I stupidly broke another coupler when I tried to mate the CV with another first run milk car. The coupler tolerances must be off ever so slightly that mating the current run of milk cars with the earlier runs is nearly impossible. And risky as I found out. I used Goo to reattach the broken knuckles. Goo creates and incredibly strong bond. Also, I ordered two replacement trucks from Lionel. I hope that Lionel actually has the older trucks in stock. If so, maybe, I should ordered another two for the new CV car.
