Is it possible, even likely that you weren't offered a replacement from Lionel because they don't have any? They might all be in the hands of distributors or retailers. I'm surprised they didn't immediately suggest you contact your dealer for a replacement, since that, as some have noted, is the usual drill. Retailer first, since they have more leverage with the manufacturer in any case. Manufacturer only if the retailer cannot help or the retailer refuses to do so.
