Lionel traveling aquarium car

I bought this aquarium car {6-36731}at a train show and it looked nice but I did not test it at the train show. When I put this car on the track at home the lights work but the belt does not turn. I moved the on/off switch no luck opened the car and no sign of burn or misuse (looks brand new) There is a small pc board in there and a motor. So it is one of these two my guess. My question can i try a small voltage from one of my extra lionel transformer to see if the motor works or is this a dc motor. If so how much voltage should I test this at. Please help me get my aquarium car back to normal.
