Well based on the initial inquiry, the Base1L is still my recommendation. If you plan on purchasing more Legacy engine then I would consider a 990. The nice thing about the Base1L is it can be purchase separately. If you're not planning to dive into Legacy and Lionel control the base is a cost effect route.
