UPDATE:

Legacy Station will not replace my failed Legacy 990 system. They sent me to Lionel.

Lionel diagnosed the issue with me via phone. Their prognosis is the same as ours:

I have a bad velocity dial.

Lionel issued a RA number and sent an email for me to ship the unit back to them for repair.

What sucks is that because of their recent move, Lionel is backlogged about three weeks on repair projects.

I must say Lionel's service rep was a joy to work with. So friendly, helpful and thorough.

So as of now, I ended up with a lemon Legacy unit that will be shipping to Lionel to be repaired. So no Legacy 900 for this train buddy for about a month.

Sad, but true.

I'll be happy as long as it gets taken care of and I have the 990 back in time for the arrival of my BTO scale Polar Express (which is due to ship in November).
