CNJ had dual control stands on their hood locomotives and could be found running either long hood or short hood forward. Being a commuter road, not turning locomotives had a lot of operational advantages for the various routes out of Jersey City. Those GP40Ps with the flat long hood were pretty imposing running long hood forward.
