Low hanging uncouple plunger

ive got some MTH o27 passenger cars (RK6001, RK600# etc), and the uncouple plunger (when uncoupled) is hanging so low it hits the o27 track and shorts it out. (pictures are of the cars coupled/connected)

Is there any solution?
