I do believe that the magnetic couplers will have the steel disc or flap on them so that the uncoupling track will open the coupler. I think the coil couplers have a shoe on the trucks and you'll need the 5 rail operating track that Lionel sells.

Are you using FasTrack? Or the normal tubular stuff?

Then do you have a piece of uncoupling/operating track?
