Thank you John, looks like a staple gun is in my future as my plans are Mianne,, plywood, homasote and then roadbed.

How did you countersink the staples? A wide wedge with a mallet? I guess it doesn't have to be too pretty since the homasote is going over the plywood that is stapled to the framework.
