Malfunctioning train help needed

I have three of the MTH Unshrouded J engines. One of those engines (5V board) has a buzzing in the tender when the sound is on. The smoke unit will not run either. I set the smoke on with my remote, it says it's turning from off to on but no smoke comes out. Check the remote again and it says Off-I turn it on and there is no response. Any suggestions?
