There was a Visionline 0-27 flat car in 2009 with a removable operating lcd digital billboard. The billboard could either stay on the flat car and be track powered or removed for placement anywhere on a layout.

Checking the manual for this car, I couldn't find any reference to an ability to charge the battery off track power. The only thing I saw was discussion about recharging either from a wall wart or else from a computer USB port.

It would be nice if it could run using just track power, but I saw no mention of that.
