Reply to "METCA, TCA Convention, Friends & Trains"

My family just returned home from the convention as well.  It was our first, and we had a terrific time.  Met a bunch of folks and visited with some old pals as well.  Hats off to Stu and his team for their hard work!

In addition to the fine tours and activities, a couple of highlights for me were:

All of the tours we took were very nice, but I would have to especially thank Ron Zweig for opening his home to share his beautiful layout with us and the NJ HiRailers for sharing their extraordinary layout and their hospitality!  I have seen photos of the NJ HiRailers layout here on the OGR forum, but it was nothing compared to seeing it in person.  All I can say is wow!  We got back to the hotel pretty late Friday night, but it was worth it to see those layouts.

At the trading hall, I got to meet Alan Graziano.  I have admired his terrific modeling on the forum for several years, and it was great to talk with him and check out some of his phenomenal work as well.  Rob Pisani from Atlas was also there and happy to discuss the status of the new Maxi-IV well cars.  Sounds like things are moving along nicely on those, and hopefully we'll hear more progress at York.  Rob also gave a very nice presentation on Atlas' manufacturing in China.

And, as others had mentioned we all left with lots of cars and gifts from the banquet.

Great job again to the METCA convention team!
