Meter wiring - Ammeter/voltmeter circuit configuration.

I am preparing to attach meters to my layout to simultaneously watch amperage and voltage. I'm thinking about do I want them in series or in parallel.

If in series, then the voltage does not include the drop across the ammeter. In parallel, the amperage does not include the current through the voltmeter.

Which is better ? Or is the difference too small to even think about ?
