Reply to "Midwestern Model Works SD45 Project - Likely going into production after National Convention"

Erik has updated the website, as posted from the General News tab

7/25/12 – We have just returned from the O Scale National meet in New Jersey and would like to thank those of you for coming to our booth to say hello and chat with us about the project. We are currently discussing the final details with a few Korean builders, but before making a decision on which one will be building our project we are taking steps to make sure we are going to get the best possible match (builder to model produced) that we can to be sure our models are at or better than what we have promised in terms of quality. Since the reservation process is going to be coming to a close soon, this decision will also be made soon. New info regarding this subject will be posted in future updates as it becomes available.

We also have news about our next project. Please visit our “Future Projects” page for more information.

In terms of cutting off reservations, we will be accepting new reservations for the next four weeks. After that time, we will be limited to what can be reserved. Once the information for the reserved models has been compiled for the general outline drawings (G.O.D.s) for the builder, we will only be able to take reservations on locomotive types that have prior reservations. There will not be sufficient time to go back and round up information for unchosen types at that time so we urge anyone who may be “on the fence” about reserving to make a decision soon, as we don’t want to have to disappoint individuals who didn’t reserve in time.

In addition the Future Projects tab now contains the following

With the reservation process for the current SD45 project drawing to a close, we have decided on our next project solely on the basis of the requests we have been getting from those of you who have participated in the “voting” process. We will continue to take suggestions for future projects and will endeavor to produce the models that receive the most “votes”. The winner, by landslide, for the next project is the SD40-2. We are taking official reservations for the SD40 and SD40-2 as of July 25, 2012. If you have interest in this model, please email us with your reservation as soon as possible. We will be trying to get the groundwork for this second project well underway while the SD45 project is in production, thereby reducing the time between projects.

The following list of locomotives are garnering serious attention from all of you as well. We will try to keep a list of locomotives that are in serious contention only. Locomotives on this list have a minimum of 10 requests. As other locomotives receive more “votes” and reach 10+ requests, they will be applied to this list for future consideration. Stay tuned to this page and the “General News” page for updates and information. Please tell friends and fellow O Scalers to visit this page and give us their suggestions. This is the only way we will know what O Scalers want to see produced.

  • SD7, SD9, SD18, SD24 & SD26
  •  C44-9W & AC4400
  •  GP38 & GP40
  •  F Units
  •  SD70, SD70M & SD70MAC
  •  GP7 & GP9
  •  RS1, 2 & 3

There are other types that have been suggested, but we’ll need more requests to add them to this list. If we continue to get requests for any of these units, it will certainly help toward ensuring they will be produced in the future. So if there is interest, please drop us an email and let us know.
