One of my favorite books as a kid was Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel. The steam shovel was saved by becoming a stationary steam plant in the basement of a building which despite my parents thinking this was a happy ending, I didnt think so. So heres a PRR Mikado being converted to stationary steam service. I remember some engines were saved by being used this way. Anyone recall which ones?
