The 9-volt battery can be used to test the locomotive, just as you did. You simply can’t leave a non-rechargeable battery in place, because that’s not the intent of MTH’s design.

A BCR won’t make a difference in this case. Something is clearly wrong.

Are you hearing two or three clangs as you power it up?
