It always comes down to the train budget for me as well! There's only so much to go around. When it's time to buy I usually go with a modern diesel. I bought the NS executive train from a poster on this site. I like it a lot.

I am not anti-steam either, I just don't have any. I prefer modern diesels, but I have an RS-3 and a SW1500, maybe some F-units someday. I imagine I will probably end up with a steamer sooner or later. The Lion Chief Camelbacks are tempting, but the train budget is depleted.
