This kind of opinion has been seen many times in the past -- pronouncing sentence and condemnation based only upon an experience with the cheapest beginner products in the MPC line. Of course, there was no comparison between the cheapest MPC and the higher quality products of the MPC line, which was most of it. Much of the upper line quality pieces remains robust to this day, even basic rolling stock. (I know because I still have a bunch of it. 
)Too bad the poster didn't have a MPC GG-1, so he could have done a fair comparison.
