Has anyone had these thing apart to replace light bulbs or convert to LEDs?

We installed some and a couple of the bulbs burnt out after turning them on for only the 2nd time.

I was thinking of converting them with LEDs as GRJ suggested above. Are they series or parallel wired? I know the faces screw off, but that's about it.
