I have that ATSF SW9 switcher #2421 from SHS.
ATSF SW9 1215 did exist and you can find pics of it on the net.

The covergirl on the MTH catalog is an NW2, as was the prototype 1215. The primary spotting difference between an NW2 and SW9 for modelling purposes is the step in the hood before the cab verses a sloped hood.
Another difference is the size of the radiator.

Of course, there's a host of other less noticeable details that the railroads may have changed during their service lives.
