Pete,

Don't know if this will help, you can try Evan's Design's they sell 1.8 mm and smaller LED's. They fit in any opening, i use them regularly in all my upgrades. If you place the LED in the right spot in the marker housing ( very very tedious) it will let out light from all sides.
