MTH Alco RS 27 runs fine with sound then stops.

Hello,

I have an MTH Alco RS 27 with sound that runs fine then stops. While stopped, the engine sounds continue to rev up like it wants to run, then after about 3 minutes it moves and runs fine. This happens numerous times while running. I just installed a new battery. Just checking to see if anyone might know what could be causing this glitch.
