The post does adjust timing, but the timing is somewhat critical, if you open it up significantly, the engines will come up in conventional mode and the WD box is pointless. I don't see this solveing your problem with Apple, I think the MTH software is simply broken.
I redesigned the board to eliminate calibration totally, that's the 555 fixed timing based board I refer to. Naturally, since I make the boards, I gave myself the new version. 
There was a suggestion to only run the WD box for a few seconds anytime a siding was powered up. Obviously, this requires you to know when the power up happens individually on each siding, so there would be additional controls to be designed and wired for every siding power control. I'm not really pursuing this option as I don't have the issue in my environment.
