After my last post I did again find how to move engines up from the inactive list. As Barry said, one has to go to the edit screen, but you can't just hold your finger on the engine and move it up. It's necessary to hold your finger on the 3 little horizontal lines on the right, and that will highlight the line, then the engine can be slid up to the active list. Once there, the engines can be moved around to place them in the desired order (as they don't always seem to end up where one would want them).
I'm still working on the issue, but probably not today.
