MTH New Couplers Locked Up

Hi all,

I've noticed that many of my newer MTH cars with the redesigned coupler tab - the small tab rather than the thumbtack release - appear to have locked in place and will not open with a reasonable amount of force. I was wondering if others had seen similar issues and what was done to fix the issue, if anything?
