This was a very early P5 with 5volt board that I upgraded to PS3. It has the cast shell, 2 motors with one motor driving the one axle with traction tires. The second motor drives the other two axles.
now heres the issues: when running in conventional on my test track it wont go into neutral or change directions. I figure its locked in reverse but since i cant get it into neutral, I cant reset it. It runs fine in command control, no problems at all, using the remote or my iPone 10.
second issue: when running in command and going over a bit of uneven track, it stops but the traction tire axle keeps spinning and the other two don't move at all!! Its getting power and it doesn't short out. I don't understand why the one motor doesn't also keep turning. I am aware of tracking issues with this engine and i have managed to ‘fix’ the uneven track with shims, at least most of them. Any ideas would be helpful.
Both motors do work, i checked it on its side powering the pickups individually with both a z750 and a Lionel 1033.
