MTH Premier SD70M-2 Diesel Engine w/PS 2.0 (Scale Wheels)

I have and MTH scale wheel version of the Premier SD70M-2 EMD Demonstrator. I have had the diesel for several years but never took it out of the box until today. I went to install the pickup rollers on the trucks, MTH provides four with the screws to attach them. The problem is that only the inner screw hole on each truck accepts the screw to attach the pickup roller. There is a hole for the outer pickup roller screw but there are no threads to attach the roller. Using a flashlight it appears that there may be threads lower inside of the truck but the screw(s) are too short. Does this engine only use two pickup rollers? Why did MTH provide four rollers? Does anyone else have the scale wheel version of the SD70M-2? Thanks for any assistance.
