There is a more advanced answer to your question...

Since you are running 3R you can use the MTH Hi-Rail wheel sets. These have larger flanges and "blind" center axles. This will allow the engine to physically negotiate the stated 3 rail curve of O-42 or 21" radius. Now, the problem you will have is with the fixed pilots and Kadee couplers. With long shank couplers you may be able to stay coupled to the train on curves tighter than 36" radius, but probably not much. Also, these big engines look horrible on tight curves.
