MTH PRR 0-4-0 question...

I have a MTH Premier PRR 0-4-0 PS-2 version with the 3 volt boards. I opened the tender and found it has a battery pack made up of two AAA sized batteries. Would a BCR-2 be a proper application should I choose to eliminate batteries?

The pack that is in there is the older (I believe) green battery pack..
