Lionel never licensed legacy technology, if they did then this statement would have some truth to it. PS 3.0 is more modern than TMCC, for sure, and Atlas has the ability to use that. If they want the most recent technology, they would switch totally to PS 3.0 *shrug*. I don't have a dog in this fight, I am not a Lionel fan boy or an MTH one, just pointing out the reality of what Atlas has available.

Lionel (to my knowledge) never licensed the use of Legacy in for use in another manufacturer's locomotives. They did however license a subset of the interface communications to MTH, which allowed MTH to add Legacy functionally to their WiFi smartphone/tablet app which is enabled through the purchase of a Lionel Legacy command base, a Lionel SER2 device, and a Lionel LCS PDI power cable.
