Depends on what model beacon you have! Earlier versions worked off of the bulbs' heat (they have little fins built into the top of the beacon for the heat to make them rotate). The newer ones have a vibrator builtin the base of the lamp to make them rotate.

I didn’t know MTH made the bulb heat version. I thought MTH was strictly vibramotor.
