Reply to "MTH RS-3's announced"

Here is a small clip from the official all-time GN locomotive roster.  It shows only 4 RS3s.

Just because an engine is on display does not mean it bears the correct number.  That engine may never have been on the Great Northern. Of the four they had, 3 were scrapped years and years ago.  What is the chance that that is the ONE?

PS:  If this sounds argumentative, not my intention.  However, I will continue to look for documented official evidence that the number used on the model and display was used on a RS3.  The official roster has had errors before.

Lastly, I would hope that this run be done with an official documented numbered, because it would be incredibly simple to just do that knowing that GN used 182 to 185.

@John C., you are mixing the GN class number with the Alco model number. Look at the roster shown in your photo. On the left side it says, "Class RS-1." Scan to the right along the same line and you'll see, "Alco-GE Model RS1."

The Alco RS-3 was Great Nothern class RS-5. You can see that all here on the Great Nothern Empire website. (The Great Northern Railway Society refers people to GNE site for locomotive rosters.) I'll bet that if you look up Class RS-5 in your official all-time GN locomotive roster, you'll see #229 among the thirteen Alco RS-3s.
