MTH Speaker

My MTH Proto 2 steam locomotive has a 4ohm speaker in it. It is not working and MTH has a replacement speaker with 16 ohms. Would replacing the 4ohm with a 16 ohm result in a better sound quality and could it be done? Thank you in advance.
