Could you tell us how you painted the stonework. Types of paint etc.

Remove all doors and windows,    Prime the building with a gray rustolium primer.    Paint random stones with different earth colors.  They do not have to be painted too carefully.  At this point the stones look  bad. Use a gray crayola brand tempera paint (mix white and black)  Do not use other brands because there black is often made of mixed colors and will separate out.   Crayola is just black pigment.   Paint the entire walls then wipe off the tempera paint.  you can go back and wipe off more of the tempera paint with a damp rag even after it dries.   This will blend and mute the colors.    Rub powdered earth colors on the stones using you fingers, not a brush, to pick up the cast high spots and add texture to the color.   Spray the building with Rustolium dead flat or other clear flat.
