When you turn on the Z4K, does the red overload light go out? if not, perhaps the gear on the lever and the potentiometer are out of sync, this requires removing the top of the transformer, loosening the screws that hold the pot. in place, and turn the gears so that the black marks line up. Not a job for a tyro.
