If you have not tried a Feature Reset, then do so. A Factory Reset should not be necessary.
If a Feature Reset doesn't restore sounds, a Factory Reset might not, either.
Barry, as I suggested, I try the feature reset first. It doesn't really hurt to do the factory reset after that if the first doesn't work. I have had the factory reset restore things, perhaps it was the process of adding it back in, I can't say.
Richard, did you try a conventional reset? Occasionally, that will spill over to command operation and affect things, worth a shot. In conventional mode, five bells and one whistle, spaced at 1/2 second intervals. You should get an acknowledgement if it's successful, the timing is fairly touchy on the button pushes.
