Not really a huge need for bumpers with the new stuff. Look in the Lionel catalog track section for the trolly stop track. There are other brands too.
It will stop and reverse, or stop and go to the next stop. (some systems need to use dc. Maybe on track, maybe on train, none a huge or hard conversion, usually revertible too)
For safety without actually terminating the ends with bumpers, look at this weeks thread on shelf end stops, look for the yellow wheel stops (paint um so they hide) or do something else suggested there or similar so it still has the basic loop into the distance effect.
Sooner or later you'll want another project. Just think about it. It does look good enough. No loss either way 😉
