I agree with.... everyone, in general.

Anymore contact than a personalized "hello" type note being sent to her contact address, would just be too much.

If it were my choice, I would likely do that and include an "free subscription as needed" so they would know its not just business, and even then never write another word about it.

I.e. We wait patiently for that answer from the would be subscription holder.
